Australian runner Mina Guli visited the National Olympic Committee of Tajikistan on June 4 and met with the vice-presidents of the Committee Abdullo Rahmonzoda and Dilshod Nazarov.

Rahmonzoda thanked her for supporting Tajikistan’s initiatives on water issues at the international level.

He noted that the initiative of Mina Guli, namely the organization of running marathons, along with the involvement of the population in water issues also contributes to the development of sports, especially athletics in Tajikistan.

Guli spoke about the places she visited over the past few days, and expressed gratitude to the government of Tajikistan, especially President Emomali Rahmon and the hospitable Tajik people.

Guli said that she is not an athlete, but through sports she seeks to involve the world community in water issues.

Guli was presented with memorable gifts of the National Olympic Committee of Tajikistan.

Guli is the founder and CEO of Thirst.

She has planned a marathon in honor of the International Decade for Action «Water for Sustainable Development 2018-2028,» the Second High Level International Water Conference in Dushanbe and the UN Water Conference 2023 in New York. The marathons started on March 22, 2022 in Australia and will end on March 22, 2023 in New York.

Since May 15, 10 marathons (42.2 km each) have been held in Tajikistan. On June 9, another marathon will be held in the direction Dushanbe — Vahdat (Ramit zone).
