In honour of the 30th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Tajikistan, the President of the National Olympic Committee of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, has inaugurated a new sports stadium in Baljuvon district of Khatlon region.
Rahmon, who is also the President of Tajikistan, had taken personal interest ever since construction work on the 6,000-seater Central Stadium of Baljuvon began in 2019 and was on hand to declare it open last Thursday, September 23.
The flood-lit facility was built with funds provided by the government of Tajikistan with President Rahmon overseeing the construction and completion of the project.
The commissioning of the football stadium will promote a healthy lifestyle among residents in the region as well as provide a venue for district and regional competitions. The development of sports and promoting public health through exercise is one of the main agendas of the NOC president.
The 3.68 hectares facility will also provide permanent employment for 10 persons.
