Tajikistan NOC celebrates success of National Run

The National Run was held across Tajikistan on Sunday, May 16, with more than 295,000 people attending the fun event.

The annual event, which has been held since 2007, is part of the initiative to promote an active lifestyle by President Emomali Rahmon, who is also President of the National Olympic Committee of Tajikistan.

According to the NOC, 295,621 people, including 96,101 women, took part in the National Run in the capital Dushanbe and across other major cities and regions in the country.

President Rahmon had issued a decree in 2007 that the National Run be held on the third Sunday in May every year.

Apart from promoting a healthy lifestyle, the event also ensures the popularity of sports and its development among residents regardless of age and gender.
