The National Olympic Committee of Tajikistan celebrated Olympic Day 2020 on June 23 by awarding 50 of the country’s famous athletes and longtime veterans of the sports industry with souvenirs.
Rahmonzoda Abdullo, Chairman of the Committee for Youth Affairs and Sports under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, and Abdullozoda Muhammadsho, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee, participated in the ceremony and handed out the souvenirs.
It was noted that sports in Tajikistan was a priority and had received the personal attention of Emomali Rahmon, President of the country, who is also the President of the National Olympic Committee.
Olympic Day in Tajikistan every year is celebrated with various sporting events, seminars, conferences and talks, but the NOC decided to cancel such a programme this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It was hoped that the world community will soon be able to overcome this disease, and athletes will train and strive to qualify for the Olympic Games. The Tajikistan NOC wished everyone success in achieving this goal.
