Tajikistan NOC holds ‘Sport for All’ competitions for youth

The Tajikistan National Olympic Committee in cooperation with the Committee for Youth and Sport held a ‘Sport for All’ day in athletics, chess and wrestling earlier this week.

Young sports fans from the capital Dushanbe, Bokhtar, Vahdat and Gissar took part in the competitions. The purpose of the event was to attract young people to sport and to unearth talent.

Two events were held in athletics – 100 metres and 800m – for boys and girls, while in chess the competition was held in a team format. Wrestling, which attracted the largest number of entries, was staged in 10 weight categories ranging from 55 kg to over 100 kg for boys.

All winners were awarded diplomas and medals by the Tajikistan National Olympic Committee as well as commemorative gifts.
