Tajikistan took their first ever Grand Slam medal in the form of Behruzi Khojazoda. An absolutely enormous sode tsuri komi goshi by Khojazoda Behruz, lifting his Brazilian opponent up into the air, before he then perfectly placed her down onto his back in what is one of judo’s most spectacular techniques. He took on Brazil’s Eduardo Barbosa, catching him for a waza-ari in Golden score to make history for Tajikistan at Ekaterinburg Grand Slam. Behruzi Khojazoda won his first ever Bronze medal on the second day of Ekaterinburg Grand Slam. Khojazoda flew through his preliminaries and took on Brazil’s Eduardo Barbosa in the – 73kg final.
Somon Mahmadbekov defeated judoka from Germany -73kg but he has been bitten by Italian judoka in the second round. On the first day of Ekaterinburg Grand Slam, other Tajik judokas – Daler Qurbonjonov, Komron Mamadnazarov -60kg in the men’s divisions, and Shohida Qalandarova -57kg in the women’s division has been bitten by their preliminaries opponents in the first round.  
According to a report of International Judo Federation, 353 athletes (202 men and 151 women) from 47 countries of the world took part at Ekaterinburg Grand Slam-2019
