Somon ranked fifth in Düsseldorf Grand Slam-2019

Dushanbe, 26 February 2019 – Tajikistan well-known judoka – Somon Mahmadbekov snatched fifth with 73kg in Düsseldorf Grand Slam-2019 in which has been held on 22-24 February 2019 in Germany.

This Grand Slam is the next stop on the IJF World Tour and brings together no less than 606 competing athletes on the tatami, i.e. 362 men and 244 women from 93 countries around the world.

In this grandiose sporting event Tajikistan has been represented by 5 athletes: Behruz Khojazoda 73kg, Somon Mahmadbekov 73kg, Akmal Murodov 81kg, Komronshoh Ustopiriyon 90kg, and Saidjalol Saidov 100kg. Among Tajikistan judo team Somon Mahmadbekov got a desirable result. In the first round, Somon defeated judokas from Germany, Mongolia, Switzerland, Poland, but he has been bitten by Japanese and Georgian athletes in the semifinal.
